Tanya Cabala has been honored over the years with numerous awards for her tireless efforts to improve the world in which we live.

 

2001:  Great Lakes Stewardship Award, for service to Lake Michigan and “being one of the most effective advocates in Great Lakes environmental history,” awarded by the Lake Michigan Federation.

2002:  Muskegon Environmental Excellence Award, given by the Muskegon County Environmental Coordinating Council to the Lake Michigan Federation, for “10 years of environmental achievement in the Muskegon area.”

2002:  Living Green Award, awarded by Tryon Farm Institute of La Porte County, Indiana. Living Green Awards “represent individuals or groups who take actions to inform, inspire and change public policy and private practices to make the nation’s cities and countryside greener places to live.” 

2008:  Friend of the District, awarded by the Muskegon Conservation District.

2011:  Lady Laker Award, given by the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. “The purpose of the Lady Laker of the Year Program is to recognize professional individuals who have served in an exceptional manner especially in mentoring and assisting future leaders in the White Lake area. The nominee must be an individual who performs outstanding service through his or her work and exhibits a positive and supportive attitude.”

2015:  Mary Jane Dockeray Award, given by the Land Conservancy of West Michigan. The award is presented to individuals and organizations for “outstanding dedication and commitment to the quality of nature interpretation or conservation in West Michigan.” 

2016:  Michigan Environmental Hall of Fame Award for the long-term White Lake area restoration effort. Accepted on behalf of the local advisory group that led the effort.

2016:  Sustainability Champion, awarded by the Muskegon Area Sustainability Coalition. “The purpose of the Muskegon Area Sustainability Award is to recognize individuals, organizations, businesses and groups for significant contributions to a better environment in Muskegon County.”

2017:  George Heartwell Environmental Legacy Award, given by West Michigan Environmental Action Council. “The award honors elected and appointed, public sector leaders from across the political spectrum, who have created positive change on behalf of our region and state’s natural resources and public health.

2017:  Michigan Environmental Hall of Fame Individual Award, given by the Muskegon Environmental Research & Education Society.
